Many consider the stories of the Bible ancient religious fables
completely unrelated to contemporary circumstances, and so abandon
them. Others consider biblical stories as factual historical accounts
and interpret them literally to provide certitude for their doctrinal
positions. Still others, wishing merely to be uplifting, select only
those biblical stories that fill the blank places of their lives with
peace of mind and spiritual assurance. In my opinion all of these views
are misconceptions.
Those who are immersed in the crises of their times have again and
again pondered the great mysteries of life for illuminating insights.
That is as true for the biblical authors as it is for us. Faith is not
a synonym for credulity. Faith is an ongoing dialogue with doubt. It
achieves authenticity only where it consciously manifests the internal
and external difficulties with which we must struggle.

Interested in having a Community Garden in Lions Bay?
Since spring of 2009 a group of interested residents have been working
together with the Village to secure land that could be converted into a
community garden.
Why a Community Garden in Lions Bay?
Our vision is to promote food sustainability by allowing our residents
to have access to a demonstration garden and community garden plots.
Having community gardens is not a new concept, but it would be for Lions Bay.
We hope that we could create an area that would benefit the Village in many ways.

What are the purpose of our bylaws and our government in the Village? Is it really to keep us safe and to make our neighborhood better, or is it just to give purpose to a few who think their opinions are more important and more right than anyone elses?
Do we not live in a society and a country where we have the right to privacy and the consitutional rights to enjoy our life, say what we feel, and do what we want, as long as it is not harmful to another?
I ask that all those in the Village, that are part-time or full time residents, please contact me directly and share with me directly via my personal email, what you think about the Village, its Council and Laws, and the impact of the Highway, and the future of the Village as you see it?
Look forward to hearing from you. <

My partner, the brilliant documentary maker Damien Gillis and I have now got our new environmental organization up and running.
The Common Sense Canadian operates a website, www.thecanadian.org whose purpose it is to put into public debate that which is now censored. That will happen in several ways the most important of which will come from our 25 contributors, each of whom brings expertise in one or more areas of environmental concern. They will, when asked, or when they feel the need to publish articles on environmental issues. They cover the entire political spectrum from Tory MP to long time NDP supporters.
The website will feature documentaries, current and past, from Damien Gillis, an internationally acclaimed creator of documentaries on many subjects most recently on the fight to rid our oceans of fish farms and the egregious destruction of our rivers to create energy to be sold, at a loss, by BC Hydro to out of province customers.
Rafe Mair will contribute weekly blogs on the environment and he and Damien will take to the airwaves once a week with current environmental issues.
A vital component of the Common Sense Canadian will be to provide a forum for public debate both on the website and on air.
The Common Sense Canadian has no politics its objective is to save our environment anywhere it is desecrated, or proposed to be, without any regard to what political parties are involved in the governmental process. It will support good policies (of which hitherto there have been precious few) and oppose bad ones without political distinction.
Speaking frankly, we're seeking financial support and encourage you to help. We're also looking for anyone who might wish to be a major donor,

Summer is coming and already the madness begins. It appears that people who put their driveway on a public easement has closed the trail. Leaving the rest of the public at the mercy of their neighbor man who stands in his window naked, takes pictures of women walking by and physically attacks his neighbors. He also tries to run people down in his car (talk to Liz) walking up the street that has no side walk. Maybe the village should pay for a sidewalk if they are going to let these people take away safe walk routes down to the park. Unfortunately, the same residents built part of their structures on public property, pool foundations, gates, etc. Can a proper width side walk be built?????
