Update on Secondary Suites – Council Meeting of May 17th, 2010
Councillors Joanne Ronsley and Peach Akerhielm have asked the Village to forward the attached note to residents.
Dear Resident of Lions Bay:
As promised, we are keeping you updated on the progress of proposed
legislation intended to legalize secondary suites in the Village of
Lions Bay. Here is the latest.
On May 17th, at its regular meeting, Council gave first and second
reading to a draft Zoning bylaw amendment, setting out basic
regulations under which secondary suites can be built in homes.
Two thrusts are occurring, in connection with this legislation. One is
the bylaw amendment itself, which has received its first readings. The
other is development of administrative/enforcement policy around its
regulations, for example, whether the new regulations will apply to
existing suites.
Below are some basic questions and answers, and more information is on the Village website.

Sent on behalf of the Public Works Department:
Boulevard remediation work on the section of Lions Bay Avenue closest to the park is scheduled for Saturday, May 1 for most of the day. The work will entail cleaning up the parking area on the east side of Lions Bay Avenue approximately 300 feet north towards the first corner and the laying down of crushed gravel to create a proper bed for vehicle parking.
This work means that parking on Saturday May 1 will not be permitted along Lions Bay Avenue in the area where this work is being done but that parking will still be available in the railway parking lot just east of the railway tracks.
The Village apologizes for any inconvenience that this work may cause but feel that the work is necessary to provide a clean, attractive and safe area for residents to park.
