Current Events In the Bay Scholarship Dinner, May 8th, 2009

A great crowd gathered for a wonderful dinner at the Bay Moorings restaurant in Horseshoe Bay to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Lions Bay Community Scholarship Foundation on Friday May 8, 2009.

Places were taken at 7:30 p.m. and seafood galore was served as an appetizer. It consisted of platters of mussels, scampi, and calamari along with items I couldn’t pronounce!  Dinner was then placed before the hungry crowd who enjoyed their choices of steak, halibut or lamb.

After dinner and fines desserts, Louis Peterson, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee spoke very briefly to thank everyone for their support and to introduce some attendees from out of the Village.  Jill Anne MacDowall, Derek White, and Matt Doiron, all of whom originate in Prince Edward Island, were present. Matt was asked to draw the Door Prize (a dinner for two courtesy of Bay Moorings).  Connie Spierrs name was drawn as the lucky winner, much to the delight and “cat calls” of the group.  It was a great evening for all who attended.

The Scholarship Committee was most pleased at the attendance and with a substantial number of donations made by residents of Lions Bay unable to attend the dinner. The evening was a huge success.

No doubt we will organize a similar event next May and hope even more can go to the big town for a lovely social evening.
