We all have free will and are able to make choices but do you realize that you are always at choice?

When we are experiencing an emotion, we have the choice whether to feel it or not, for most of us though we think that is how we feel period. So many of our emotional responses are based on past experiences or societal norms, we don’t have to feel sad becomes someone passes from this world, but people often think we are a bit strange if we don’t. I can be joyful that person is moving onto their next phase of soul existence; it is only how we choose to see things that has us choose an emotion to go with it.

I am not saying this is an easy topic and I am sure many of you will disagree with me, but being able to move to the idea that we are at choice gives us so much more power and so many more options on how we live our lives.

For example, say that I was abused as a child, I could choose to be angry about this, I could choose to have a miserable life because of this, I could choose to be a drug addict because of this, I could choose to be an abuser myself because of my huge amount of pain inside, I could choose to be a victim for the rest of my life or I could choose to acknowledge this in my life, acknowledge my great character traits that I developed because of it and choose to be happy with the wonderful person I have become. Now it’s not to lessen the severity of what happened or to judge that the perpetrator was bad or good, if I stick with my place of judging right or wrong, bad or good, I keep myself a victim of the event. When I am in a victim spot, I have no power. When I can own the value of the event rather than the right or wrong of it, I shift myself back into a place of power. I am in charge of my life, and I can learn and grow from all that has happened in it.

By making this my choice, I empower myself to grow and move forward. In empowering myself, I can choose the happiness I am looking for. I am not dwelling on something that was painful at the time and constantly bringing this pain forward with me into my present life.

I choose to let go, knowing that what we give out we get back, the person who was the abuser will have their own journey to wholeness to travel. No matter how far we run, or how much we drink, we can’t escape ourselves, we are still there.

Choice is a matter of seeing beyond the smallness of life and embracing the wholeness of life. We are much bigger than we realize and we can overcome anything that has happened in our lives by being conscious of our choices. How we choose to feel, how we choose to think and the people we choose to surround ourselves with.

Stop today and make a conscious choice of how you are choosing to feel today. Know that you have the ability to make a different choice if you are not happy.

Today, I choose happiness, joy, love, abundance and ease.

What do you choose?
