To launch this new venture in Lions Bay, a group of Seniors met at the Library to explore possibilities of "Seniors helping Seniors". Despite the unforgivable late arrival of the coordinator with tea and muffins, a good discussion was held as to how a Guild could serve a useful purpose. It was felt that there is no magic age for anyone wishing to belong, so we include seniors, wanabe seniors, their friends - hence a "Seniors & Associates Guild". Knowing that as Seniors we fall into differing categories, depending on needs and wishes, this group will function in collaboration with the Village Council, Emergency Social Services and BlockWatch to map out our role within the community.
We have started to prepare a Brochure to provide information on topics such as: emergency service phone numbers; transportation issues; technical help numbers; home & property maintenance numbers; winter issues; use of computers; events of interest to and inclusive of seniors, in and outside of our Village; accessibility issues; alternate housing possibilities; Council proposals.
We have a list of about 100 in our "age cohort". If you haven't heard from me by phone or email and would like a copy of Notes and the Brochure when ready, please give me a call (604-921-7260, email
