It is hard to believe that a year has transpired since last I wrote in the “Seagull” and with its demise, the community lost so much valuable information regarding all the activities in our village. It has been especially difficult for the Library to send out information regarding our newest acquisitions of the written word, magazines and DVD’s. We must be honest in saying that we have noticed a definite ...
... decline in the past months as far as our readership is concerned. We hope that by publishing in the Lions Bay Community News, we can re-unite with our members & encourage more residents to use our facilities. Remember that we volunteers look forward to visits from our readers, so we are open regular hours and want to remind you we have many new books, magazines and DVD’s which we hope will encourage you to visit us.
Over the past few months, many new best sellers have found their way to our shelves.
If you have not read “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, his newest tome “Five Thousand Splendid Suns”, already has a waiting list…so run don’t walk, for another amazing adventure from this talented author.
Other new books include:
- “The Bourne Betrayal” carrying on Jason Bourne’s adventures. Remember this is not written by the late Robert Ludlum but Eric Van Lustbader, who does a passable job trying to keep the Bourne mysteries alive.
- Geo Xinjian’s “One Man’s Bible”, Kim Edwards “The Memory Keepers Daughter” and Ian McEwen’s“Chesil Beach” all can be found on our shelves.
- James Patterson is back with “The 6th Target”,
- Iris Johansen brings us “Killer Dreams”
- Vince Flynn’s “Act of Treason” certainly all bring terror & mystery to those who like that genre.
We also are asking our avid readers, who have some spare time to volunteer at the Library, as we are losing some of our most devoted volunteers and so require at least three new faces. Please call Annmarie Prior @ 604-921-7935 or Annmarie Gates @ 604-921-7025.
