Community Services Village Bulletins Sewage Treatment Plant Update
Sent on behalf of Chuck Partridge, Public Works Manager,

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know of the status of the Sewage Treatment Plant project, this project had been delayed due to awaiting parts. The parts have arrived and we have discovered that after removing the old media baffles to install the long awaited new baffles that the centre drive connection had been damaged as well. This could not be foreseen unless we went to the expense of removing the system twice.

That was the bad news, the good news is that the new centre drive will be in early next week and we will have the project all buttoned up by the 2nd week of September. I want to apologize for the delay on this project, however, that being said we will now have a system that will last years longer than expected.

We will have a proper maintenance program in place with documentation, testing and results going forward. All aspects of this project have been and will be, going forward, be within all government regulations. Lions Bay and Kelvin Grove will have a system that they can have complete faith in. At no time has solid waste ever left our system into the marine area of Howe Sound and any effluent has always gone out 600 feet off shore at a depth of 60 meters. The effluent pipe has been inspected by divers and is in a sound state.

Again, thank you all for your ongoing patience during this project. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Chuck via email or call the Works line and we will get back to you.
