Due to the extreme cold we have been experiencing over the past few days, the water intakes up at both Magnesia Creek and at Harvey Creek had frozen. This extreme weather has also caused the pipes that feed the water system to freeze. We have unblocked the intakes. We are attempting to thaw the pipes and to maintain a consistent supply of water to feed the UV reactors. Flow is minimized due to cold and the system requires higher flow than we are now able to provide. There is water available, however, the consumption outweighs the availability. For fire protection, we must have our water tanks full at all times, which we are currently unable to do.
We would respectfully request that residents be careful with their water usage, similarly to water conservation measures taken during drought periods.
Once the weather warms, particularly towards the top of the mountain, the water for Magnesia Creek and for Harvey Creek should flow normally once again.
