It can be said that not too many residents of Lions Bay are aware of our newly refurbished tennis court which is tucked away in the forest on Mountain Drive.  This idyllic setting can now be accessed via the recently completed Sunset Trail - simply cross over the wooden bridge across the creek and follow the path that heads up  through the newly cleared undergrowth and you will reach our court.  From there you can continue up to either Sunset or onto Trudi's trail - another tribute to the amazing work of our volunteer Trail Blazers!

Thanks to a grant from the Government, Council and some ongoing local fundraising, the court was restored late last year.  There is still a problem with the surface but we have been assured that this will be resolved once the weather warms up.

On Saturday 25th June, we hope to launch the 2011 summer season of tennis in "The Bay" (weather permitting).  Anyone who is keen to join in or who would like to try out their hand is welcome to show up in the morning.  They can avail themselves of this opportunity to see our facility for themselves and some may even be inspired to dust off their tennis rackets and return to this great outdoor activity.

At present we have several keen players (of varying strengths of play) who get together on a very informal basis over the summer months.  Within the limitations of only having one court, we try to stagger the start times so that players do not have to sit out for long periods of time.  There are no set times or days of play at this stage but normally Saturday or Sunday mornings suit most players as well as one or two evenings per week.  As this is a public court, normal court rules and etiquette apply.

There can be no doubt that the amazing setting of our court is unique and is a wonderful recreational resource for our Village.
