Opinion Recognitions Village People Thank You Mrs. D!

When driving by Mountain Road the other day, I noticed a change in the landscape – a SOLD sign at the Dahabieh house. I was caught by a mixed feeling of joy and sorrow. Joy for the Dahabieh’s who have succeeded in selling their home, which has been an exercise in patience. Sorrow in that “Mrs. D.”, as we all know her, will be leaving the Village.

“Mrs. D” has touched the lives of so many in this village through the years. Her daycare provided much more than a temporary accommodation for our children, mainly because of her character and genuine affection. Some, like mine who are adults now, still recall their experience with her.

She holds a unique place in the collage of people who make Lions Bay special. She’s the one symbolized by a happy, smiling face, always welcoming, always cheerful, always caring. “Mrs. D” has also given to the community in so many ways, founding member and director of the Lions Bay Community Scholarship Foundation, creator of the student job bank, to name a few. Always giving, never asking anything in return. If you know her, you’ll always visualize her smile.

What I’m trying to say, Elizabeth, with a bit of a tear, is thank you.
