LBHS Croquet Tourney 2011
The Annual LBHS Croquet Tourney was successful and a wonderful experience.
Ladies in hats/gents in slacks/drinks in hand.
The traditional ham roasting in the oven/homemade appetizers/Noreen Copp's jellied salad/copper pennies/Swiss potato salad/the biggest, healthiest rainbow coloured salad was presented in the prettiest bowl. Of course hot English mustard and chutney was available/to top it off we each got a taste of English trifle. It is a must at such a fancy and unique event.
Each January the LBHS members decide on a date for the Tourney. In the past 13 years we have been so very lucky. To have a warm and sunny Howe Sound Day in 2011 was quite the surprise. It was actually hot on that Croquet Saturday in August.
The croquet rules are read to the players/the ladies start the game.
Susan Loutet was the winner.....
During the entire ladies game we get coached by our husbands and friends.
At times it can get rather loud and they seem to get upset when a shot is missed or messed up.
The gents started their game and the ladies just sat back, sipped on their drinks, got into an interesting conversation and let the men do "their thing." This must be the only game in town where "we" noticed the women being happy not to interfere with the men folk. I wonder WHY??????
Rudy Luethy was the winner.
Of course the Loutet's and the Luethy's have been neighbours for over 25 years. To be in contention for the coveted Croquet trophy you can well imagine how the heat started to rise.
I was definitely having an "Off Croquet Game Day."
Rudy managed to swing by the croquet obstacles and we were quickly crowned the 2011 LBHS Croquet Champions. The Trophy has been at 440 Crosscreek Road for the past year.
A special "Thank You" to Valerie and Tony Cox for hosting. You are so very perfect in being our hosts.
If you have ever wanted to become a part of this game, come and join us and ecome a member of the LBHS. The pictures will tell and show the beautiful story of our special day we share each year on the almost perfect English lawn.
