Municipal Government Backyard Summer Swimming
Lions Bay Backyard Swimming Program had another great summer – teaching our fantastic children and youth to swim and giving them lifelong skills to help keep them safe in our great waterside community and beyond. Ian Spencer and Katie Tikkanen did a great job instructing our young swimmers, leading the program organized by Karyn Jones and myself Lisa Turpin.
Without the immense generosity of pool owners in the community our program would sink. We appreciate the donation of our local swimming pool owners. With very many thanks, 
this year we welcomed a new pool into the fold of teaching locations at the Fleming home, whose children have taken part in the program many years ago. And again to the Macklam family who gave up their serenity for 4 weeks of the summer. Ian and Katie taught over 62 students over the 6 weeks of the backward program and we couldn’t have run this program without them or the pool owners who gave a great gift to the children of our Lions Bay.
We would love more pool owners to step forward for next year. If you have a pool that we might be able to use for 1 week or 2 weeks to teach our youngsters the valuable skill of swimming, right here in our community, please contact the village office.
