Lions Bay Playschool

The beginning of school has blinked past so quickly but we packed a lot of stuff into it for sure at Lions Bay Playschool!  Lots of planning goes into making the joy of learning happen for students, making sure everything is just right when they walk into their classrooms and that they are engaged instantly.  The students and I created classroom rules as a team, that we all understand.

Rule 1 - HAVE FUN.

Rule 2 - LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT.

Rule 3 - KEEP YOUR HANDS and BODIES TO YOUR SELF.

Rule 4 - SHARE AND WAIT.

Sounds a lot like rules to live by, no matter if you are in preschool or not.  I do have a lovely profound group of students that are quite a respectful bunch of young citizens.  Our opening week saw us already  having re read all of our favorite stories.  In four days we rediscovered  ‘Pete the Cat’, ‘Pout Pout Fish’ and ‘Give that back Jack’ to name a few. Our 3’s enjoyed making apple sauce courtesy of Berenice LeBoutillier and our 4’s even tried their first field trip down to the Kelvin Grove Community Garden via the Lions Bay Trail network and harvesting their first crop for baking with in the next week.

Our classroom adventures have only just begun and the future looks bright indeed, with many great learning opportunities to be had.

We are looking for a few great local field trips to fill the calendar.  The post office is the upcoming highlight for September, along with a visit to the local Library.

Feel free to contact me if you have a great idea to share.  I am also always looking for scraps of fabric, wool, paper anything that you think we could recycle into the program for art projects, feel free to stop in and drop them off or call me and I can pick them up.  Reduce, Reuse and Recycle …Hand me downs are often the best learning tools for students.  Anyone with a gift to share, we would sure appreciate it.

Happy learning everyone and remember HAVE FUN.
