Summer Gone

Summer lies blanched
By thermal Persuasion;
Redolent with mythic fishing tales.
Endless words babbled to
Lost horizons, erased by subtle mist.
Sifting days sweating in
Hourglass of Time.
Youthful dreams:
Baffled tomorrows.
Splintered planks rasped by
Double-edged scimitar of
Sand-blasted winds.
Tussocks of grass shouldering
Aside etiquette; pointless debate:
Philosophy sung
By drones of bees,
Flits of butterflies.
Canvas triangles:
Trinity of letters
Suspended beyond slumbering
Logs.
Spangled waves:
Melting shadows
Adrift on rainbow kites.
Shimmering hours
Softened by
Kneading sun and
Gusting breeze.
