On Tuesday October 25th, there will be an assembly at the school gymnasium from 2:15 until 2:45.
Lions Bay has been awarded Bear Smart Community Status by the province of B.C. along with Whistler, as the third and fourth communities to be granted status.
The Village began the process towards becoming Bear Smart in 2004. This status is the result of the Bear Smart Committee's work to educate residents and students, the support of Council and staff, the participating residents who properly housed bear attractants, and the students at Lions Bay Community School who educated their siblings and parents about Bear Smart practices.
Wildlife Conflict Manager Mike Badry and Inspector Chris Doyle from the Conservation Officers Service will be presenting Bear Smart Community Status to Council and the Bear Smart Committee. Parents and all interested Lions Bay residents are invited to attend this short school assembly to celebrate Bear Smart with the students.
