The Annual Community Party at Brunswick Beach was held on September 24th and was themed CROCKTOBERFEST. It brought together all the Old Crocks, New Crocks & residents wearing Crocs!
This yearʼs event was hosted by Annmarie Gates beginning with Crocktail Hour at 5:30 p.m. and followed by a traditional Ham mit der senf Bratwurst and potato salad dinner. This was served up along with Potluck salads and Delightful Desserts!
It was a never ending parade as residents arrived with the most creative and occasionally outrageous costumes! Dorothy Meikeljohn was unquestionably “Betty Crocker” with her apron and wooden spoon decor while her husband Russ featured his Davey Crockett gear complete with a Musket!
Jane Moloughney arrived as a “Crock” while Ron Innes could have given Paul Hogan a run for his money as Crocadile Dundee! Janice Savage came as Crock Twins with one on her head and another on her foot cast! Yours Truly dressed as Crock Bait with a pink flamingo on my head!
Norman Pellow couldnʼt find a Crock so he recycled his Frock from last yearʼs event while his daughter Maya featured a colourful costume of her own! Birgitta Von Krosigk arrived as a blonde in a Crock Hunter outfit and did such a good job of disguising herself that I spent the first half of the event wondering why she looked familiar!!
It was great to have Diane & Mike Noble drive up for the event and our newest neighbours Michael and Collete were introduced to the residents in a highly unusual setting! Last I heard they have not decided to move on!
It was a FUN evening with lots of entertainment, great food and tons of laughs! Prizes were awarded for “The Best” of each category and then everyone kicked in to help with cleanup and all went home content!
Many thanks to Annmarie for her patience and ability to maneuver her way through the wild collection of Crockodiles, Flamingoes, Muskets and costumed crowd while presenting a fine feast for all!
The Crocktober celebration is much envied throughout Lions Bay.
A coveted invitation to annual Brunswick Beach revelries celebrating the Octoberfest season is much in demand. What next for 2012?
