Important letter from VCH Medical Health Officer

To all parents and guardians in West Vancouver School District:

Please find attached an important letter from Dr. Brian O'Connor, Medical Health Officer for Vancouver Coastal Health, regarding an increase in pertussis (whooping cough) in the VCH region since January 2012.

Pertussis is a very serious, contagious illness which is particularly severe for babies less than one year of age.

Free pertussis vaccine is now available for people who have not had a pertussis shot in the last five years.
