Moving Forward with Lions Bay Beach Parks - Your request for comments

Park Use

a) Your document point 2 - I'm not sure what problem you are trying to solve by having a sign in for picnic tables. It's it is a queuing issue than why not just have more picnic tables on hand. I don't think its a good use of tax dollars to be paying for a picnic table monitor, process development, enforcement .... This is also the type of item that could galvanize a community against the proposed changes ... some of which make sense

b) Your document point 3 - There's many residents who run through the park, go to the beach early to enjoy the tranquility .... I suggest that residents should be able to be in the park any time they wish

c) Your document point 7 - Suggest you also consolidate visitor parking to one area. Currently on the streets below the highway, no one is able to explain the logic of why some parking is for residents only and some is open to the public

d) Your document point 8 - Great news. Will this be resident or visitor or both

Bylaw Enforcement

a) Your document point 1 - why? Is there currently a problem?

b) Your document point 2 & 3 - at what cost to residents? is there a forecasted roi?

c) Your document point 4 - should this not be a consistent policy?

Parking

a) Your document point 1 - does someone need a pass to park for free?

b) Your document point 3 - is there a need to compare Lions Bay to Horseshoe Bay to justify a price increase?

c) Your document point 4 - interesting idea that would get rid of administration of free parking passes - maybe put them on the picnic tables too smilies/smiley.gif - again this should have an roi

d) Your document point 5 - for whom?

e) Your document point 6 - should you not provide an alternative for boaters - for example pay a higher fee if you are a visitor and have a special pass if you are a resident? and why just boat trailers?

Lastly, and not mentioned in the recommendations - what about restoring the sign we used to have at the park entrance in conjunction with the other changes?
