As you may have already noticed, Public Works has redefined the parking lines at the two lots adjacent to Bayview road above the school.
This was done in response to recommendations from Lions Bay PAC and School Officials, Squamish RCMP and Council for the safety of the children, residents and employees of Lions Bay School.
The three areas that are “hatch marked” in yellow paint are for emergency vehicles or pedestrian foot traffic only; cars parked in these areas are subject to the Bylaws and will be subject to ticket and towing.
The safety of the children, employees of the school and anyone attending events at the school depend on these areas being free and clear at all times.
The areas marked with white paint lines clearly indicate that is where vehicles can park for the events, pick up and drop off of school children etc.
All signs in the area of the school have been changed, cleaned and replaced, where necessary, to ensure the safety of pedestrian foot traffic in the area of the school. The east side of the road across from the school is in its entirety a “no stopping” zone for reasons of safety, again, to ensure that vehicles do not impede the safe pedestrian traffic to and from the school area.
Thank you for your attention to safety, caution in this 30 km speed zone and adhering to the Parking Bylaws, particularly near the school.
